Armed Robbers From Checkers and WaWa Arrested

On February 16 detectives from the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations arrested Javarus M. Swales, 20 years of age, from Great Mills, and Demetrick N. Maddox, 19 year of age, from Great Mills. Both were charged with armed robbery, 1st degree assault and theft for the December 28th armed robbery of the Checkers Restaurant in California. At the time of the robbery Swales was an on-duty Checkers employee and Maddox was a former employee. Both are incarcerated in the County Detention Center. On February 17th detectives from St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations arrested Anthony G. Queen Jr. 16 years of age, from Great Mills and charged him with armed robbery, theft and first degree assault for the February 4th robbery of the Wawa in Lexington Park. At the time of the robbery the juvenile utilized a handgun to obtain money from the employees and fled the area. He is currently charged as an adult and incarcerated in the County Detention Center. |
