As of 10 p.m. last night police responded to a residence in Dusty Lane, off Brown Road in Leonardtown. According to Sheriff Tim Cameron, James Emerick Dean, 29, barricaded himself inside his home, with several weapons, and was reportedly suicidal. During the night Dean fired several shots from the residence. Four different tactical teams rotated through the night at the scene of the residence, Sheriff Cameron told The Bay Net. At one point the suspect shot at a cop car, which had an officer inside. That officer was fortunately not injured. At 1 p.m. this afternoon it was reported that the suspect had been taken down, and fatally shot. “I cannot yet confirm that,” said Cameron, as he spoke with The Bay Net minutes later, although that was the message coming from the scene. Speaking to The Bay Net at the scene Cameron went on to confirm the armed man had been killed at the scene, taken down by a tactical team. This was in response to the threat he made towards officers, said Cameron. An investigation will now begin, and police are likely to remain at the scene for a further 8 to 10 hours, commented Cameron.
