St. Mary’s County airport has been closed since late Wednesday afternoon because of a minor incident involving Maryland State Police Trooper 7.

According to St. Mary’s County Public Information Officer, Tony Jones, the helicopter was conducting touch and goes, take-off and landing, when the landing gear failed to extend.

The aircrew was not injuried.

The airport remains closed while National Transportation Safety Board, NTSB, investigators are en route to the scene to investigate the incident.
