Workshop Planned for Parents/Educators

The St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) Partners for Success Resource Center for Families and Schools is offering a workshop for parents and educators entitled Delayed Language Development and Autism Spectrum Disorder in ToddlersThe workshop will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Board of Education Meeting Room, 23160 Moakley Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

This workshop is for parents and educators interested in learning about early communication impairments and developmental delays.  Most children with language delays do not develop autism.  However, ongoing research has been studying the potential risk factors associated with language delays and autism.  Dr. Laurie Swineford, primary clinician with the National Institutes of Mental Health Pediatric and Developmental Neuroscience Branch, will share important information on current research studies and findings.  Registration is required for this free workshop.  To register, please contact Susan Shannon at 301-863-4069 or email
