The weather couldn’t have been better for the 3rd Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event at St. Mary’s College on Sunday April 7.

Walden Sierra and St. Mary’s College joined together to host the fun and engaging afternoon.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is an event for men to help raise awareness in our community about the serious causes, effects and remediations to sexualized violence. So they are using the saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes."

As the men, women and children lined up to walk, music and laughter filled the air. The walk consisted of four laps. The first lap to kick off the afternoon was a Leader’s Lap. The second lap was the Men’s Only lap, the third lap was for Honoring Survivors and lap four was an Empowerment Lap for everyone.

Walden offers a range of crisis, emergency and counseling services to male and female victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and rape.  Anyone suffering from any form of gender or sexualized violence may call the Walden hotline 24 hours a day for help at 301-863-6661.
