On Friday, March 15, 2013, around 08:02am, a 2005 Hyundai being operated by Dennis Anthony Gingles, 46 years old of Lexington Park, was southbound on Point Lookout Road.

Mr. Gingles illegally passed two vehicles on the southbound shoulder of the roadway.  While on the shoulder, Mr. Gingles lost control and overcorrected causing his vehicle to spin sideways.

The Hyundai crossed the southbound lane and entered the northbound lane of travel striking a northbound 2009 International School Bus being operated by Sandra Marie Adkins (44 years old of Lexington Park).

The bus contained 8 Great Mills High School students traveling to the Tech Center.  The bus number was #626.  Mr. Gingles, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the collision.   He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

There was no injuries to the driver of the school bus or any students.  Speed is a contributing factor.

Any witnesses or anybody with information concerning this collision please contact Sgt. Edward B. Evans #88 at (301) 475-4200 Ext. 9018.
