On the morning of February 12 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Roundup Road in Lusby for the report of a home invasion robbery.  The victim stated he was sleeping in bed with his girlfriend and baby when he was attacked by an unidentified black male who had broken into his residence. The victim stated he awoke when he was struck in the head with a blunt object. The black male suspect demanded the victims’ prescription medication and beat the victim severely about the body and face with a blunt object. The suspect implied he was armed and threated to kill the female and toddler.

The resulting investigation conducted by members of the Calvert Investigative Team led to probable cause to apply for arrest warrants for two suspects involved in the above robbery, Deon Lamont Jones, 22 and Melvin Lee Mackall, Jr., 35, both of Lusby.

A white Ford Crown Victoria involved in the robbery, registered to Deon Jones’ girlfriend, Katherine Massaro, 18 of Lusby, was located and seized, pending the issuance of a search and seizure warrant.

On February 28 a search and seizure warrant was executed at a home on Daryl Drive in Lusby in the neighborhood of White Sands. During the search Melvin Lee Mackall, Jr. was located inside the residence and arrested. On March 10, Deon Lamont Jones was located and arrested in Lusby by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Warrant / Fugitive Unit.  Jones was actively attempting to avoid capture.
