Robbery and Homicide in St. Inigoes

On February 7, 2013 at 9:25 P.M. police units responded to a private residence in St. Inigoes, Maryland for the report of a robbery and shooting.  Upon arrival police units discovered a male subject lying on the floor suffering from a single gunshot wound.  The victim, identified as Robert L. McDowney, age 37, of St. Inigoes was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations was contacted, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Detectives determined that two African American males forced entry into the residence through the front door and announced a robbery.  A struggle ensued at which time one of the suspects produced a handgun and shot victim McDowney. The suspects then fled the residence in a silver in color Ford Fusion.

Suspect # 1 is described as an African American male, dark complexion, 5’-7” tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, wearing an orange and black bandana and blue jeans.

Suspect # 2 is described as an African American male, light complexion, 6”2” to 6’3” tall, weighing between 215 and 240 pounds, wearing an orange and black jacket with a hood and blue jeans.
