St. Mary's NARFE Chapter Holds Christmas Party
Leonardtown, MD - 12/23/2012
By Dick Myers
Chapter 969 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) held its annual Christmas party on Friday, December 21 at Olde Breton Inn in Leonardtown. The chapter, which covers all of St. Mary’s County, has more than 900 members, making it one of the largest in the state.
Most members are retirees from Patuxent River Naval Air Station as well as many who worked in D.C. for other federal agencies. Current federal employees are also eligible for membership. The national organization lobbies for federal employee benefits.
Attendees were entertained by oldies and Christmas music. The lunch served by Olde Breton Inn included stuffed ham, oysters and roast beef. Gifts were handed out from a large number of local businesses and every attendee received a special gift presented by Santa, who made a guest appearance in spite of his busy schedule.
NARFE Chapter 969 meets the fourth Friday of every month (except during the summer) at Olde Breton Inn. For more information of the chapter go to their website: http://www.narfe.org/field/chapter969/default.aspx
