By Charles County Sheriff's Office

On Dec. 19 at 3:06 p.m., officers responded to the 4000 block of Green Spring Street in Waldorf for the report of an unattended death. When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner who indicated his house is currently being renovated and is vacant. He said he checks on the progress of the house everyday and when he drove up to the house yesterday, he observed an SUV in the front yard.

As he investigated further, he found a woman lying underneath the SUV, pinned down by the front tire; she was pronounced dead on the scene. It is not immediately clear why the woman, Darcie Leilani Stanback-Kelton, 42, of Fort Washington, was at the residence. Investigators are also trying to determine how she got pinned underneath her vehicle. She was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. Det. G. Higgs of the Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.
