Waldorf Woman Struck and Killed Crossing Road

A Waldorf woman was killed Monday night when she was struck and killed by a car while walking across Route 224 in Marbury. According to the Maryland State Police in La Plata, Lana Mostardi had pulled her car onto the shoulder of the road, got out and was attempting to cross the road when she was struck by a Ford Expedition driven by Melvin Davis, Jr., 52, of Nanjemoy.

The mishap occurred at 11:42 p.n. just south of the Willoby Road intersection.

Mostardi was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither Davis nor a passenger in his truck was injured.

Police say Mostardi was illegally in the roadway when she was hit by the truck.
