Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf will be literally going to the dogs this weekend. The 2012 Maryland DogFest will be held at the home of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is billed as the ultimate experience for adults and children who love spending time with their dogs. This two day, family-friendly event will bring together people, dogs, entertainment, adoption opportunities and an atmosphere of "Everything Dog".

Maryland DogFest will feature non-stop excitement to include; dog dock jumping, canine demonstrations, seminars, exhibits in training, adoption and rescue, non-profits, kennels and clubs, publications, natural products, canine apparel, grooming, dog resorts, healthcare, food, housing, bedding and more.

DogFest will feature Pepsi's Ultimate Air Dog competition. All sizes and breeds are welcome to enter, as long as they can swim! Enter your dog, or just come and watch the dogs jump from the dock and fly through the air into the 40 foot long pool.

Or if you and your pooch prefer to stay dry, check out thePetSmartmain stage. This area will host a variety of interactive, entertaining events including: dog talent competitions, dog and owner lookalike contests, training seminars, and costume contests.

In addition to the numerous activities at Maryland DogFest, there will be nearly two dozen rescue, shelter, and adoption groups on hand at the "Helping Paws" adoption zone to assist you, if adding a new member to your family is on your agenda. Maryland DogFest is a supporter of promoting dog adoption as the first choice when looking for a new dog.

You can bring your family and dog to this event. All leashed dogs are invited to attend with their owners. Maryland DogFest is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday
