Tractor vs. Car in Clements

Around 5:00PM a call went out for emergency units to respond to an accident scene on Colton Point Road, just past Grampton Road in Clements. A car struck a tractor that was driving down the road. The driver of the car received minor injuries and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the tractor signed a refusal at the scene.

Everyone is in a mad rush. They just have to get around anything they perceive is in their way. I don't know that this is what happened in this case but wouldn't be surprised.

The person in the car was trying to go around the combine and struck the tractor which was in front of the combine. I guess they will slow down next time. It is St. Mary's Coutny after all, you have to share the road with the farmers.

For the record the driver was not in a mad rush, and she was not driving too fast. If you do not know the circumstances surrounding the accident please do not assume. We love our farmers and they are what St marys County is made of, the driver is born and raised in St mary's County. We are just thanking God that she is ok and no one else were injured. Thank you to everyone that helped at the scence of the accident. This is every Mother's fear, getting a call that their daughter has been in an accident and feeling helpless trying to get to her.

I hope your daughter wasn't seriously injured.......but......I'm sure that YOU do not know the circumstances surrounding the accident either. Come on now......she hit a tractor that was probably traveling 20 miles per hour.

You were in the car with her? You have some sort of tracking on her speed? If not, then you have your information directly from the driver, I'm assuming.

Sorry that your child was in this accident and thankful she is ok.

I DO know the circumstances - And I DO know the witnesses and NO I am not getting the information from the driver. And YES FACT speed was not a factor.

Look at the pictures at Click For Link How can that much damage been done to the VW in a collision with a farm tractor doing 25 mph. She wasn't speeding..........yeah..........

She wasn't speeding....NO SHE WAS NOT. Get your facts before you assume. The VW saved her life, I thank God every day, and for the record it had so much damage because she flipped 5 times after the disc of the tractor that was on the shoulder of the road swayed and hooked her tire. This was a very tramatic experience and probably a life lesson for both the driver of the VW and the tractor driver. Please think of others before you assume She wasn't speeding...yeah...NO SHE WAS NOT!

Tractors...
Are they like motorcycles maybe?...only slower (top speed of about 20mph). Sometimes a driver just doesn't see them?

Relax Mom. The hardest part of this whole incident will be your daughter having to endure some 'ribbing' of getting into an accident with a farm implement. Upside is it may make her a more attentive driver. I know mine did after she bumped another driver(no damage to either vehicle).

Glad everyone is okay.
