Indian Head Town Council Meeting, Margie Posey Honored

The Town of Indian Head honored Margie Posey for her years of service to the town on Monday night.She was presented with a plaque and spoke about how she will continue to serve the town in some capacity.Posey was a member of the town council from 1991-2011.

“I’ve enjoyed it,” Posey said.“I’m not going anywhere.My eyes and ears are still open.”

Ethics Ordinance

The town council was briefed on the ethics ordinance that must be adopted at the next meeting on October 3, 2011.The ordinance is 39 pages with 15 pages of requirements.That is the short form of the law that must be passed by every county and town per Maryland State law by October 1, 2011.Mayor Dennis Scheessele said the town should be able to wait until the next meeting since they only meet once a month.

Municipal Registrations

Town manager Ryan Hicks was put in charge of completing the Indian Head municipal registrations.The registration would allow Indian Head to be certified by the State of Maryland as a sustained Maryland community.

9/11 Ceremony

The Town of Indian Head will hold a ceremony honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Sunday morning (September 11, 2011) at 9:11am where the names of Pentagon victims will be read and bells will be tolled.Flags have been donated by the local American Legion chapter
