Despite the start of a holiday weekend, the Town of North Beach saw another great crowd Friday July 1 for the Friday Night Farmers’ Market and Cruise-in.

Several produce farmers in Calvert and southern Anne Arundel counties, flower growers and Calvert Kettle Corn sold a variety of fresh products to the hundreds of attendees. The vendors are set up on 5th Street Extended.

Several owners of rebuilt classic motor vehicles parked their prized possessions along Bay Avenue.

The 2011 market season began Friday, May 6 and will continue every Friday through October 7. The street market’s official hours are from 6 to 9 p.m.

If you attend the July 15 Friday Night Farmers Market and Cruise-in, you may also enjoy a campfire on the beach starting at 7 p.m.

The following day, Saturday, July 16, the town is hosting a “Movie on the Beach.” The entire family may enjoy “Shrek” starting at dusk.

Town officials recently announced plans for “Harvestfest,” a one-day event that will displace the once-popular Bayfest. Last year town officials were forced to cancel Bayfest due to lack of vendors. In recent years, the two-day event held in late August was plagued with weather problems—oppressive heat and dangerous thunderstorms.

Harvestfest is scheduled for Sept. 10 from noon to 6 p.m.
