Narrative:
On March 25, 2011 at 1104 hours, a citizen called 911 and reported a person lying off the roadway on Rt 6 at Perry Road La Plata, MD. Maryland State Police and the Charles County Sheriff’s Officers responded and discovered a male lying on the shoulder. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased is identified as 57 year old Darrel Gene Sallie of La Plata, Maryland. Next of kin was notified.
Investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling westbound on MD Rt 6 east of Perry Road and travelled off the roadway striking a pedestrian. The pedestrian was struck on the shoulder. The vehicle striking the pedestrian failed to remain at the scene and report the collision. At this time there is no description of the suspect vehicle and no exact time of when the collision occurred. Trooper N. Iannucci and TFC. J. Zimmerman of The Maryland State Police is handling the Investigation.
