Motorcyclist Dies, Two Others Injured in Waldorf Crash

Maryland State Police in La Plata are investigating a fatal crash that left a motorcyclist dead and two others injured.
Rescue crews responded to northbound Route 301, north of Route 5 in Waldorf on Sunday, March 28 at 5:44 p.m. for report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Investigation revealed a white 2009 Ducati motorcycle, driven by 31-year-old Deven Rachar Blackshear collided with a van and went airborne, striking an oncoming car on the opposite side of Route 301 in Waldorf. Blackshear, was traveling north on Route 301 near Route 5 when his motorcycle collided with a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country that was pulling out of a parking lot onto the highway. The motorcycle in turn flew into a silver Chevrolet HHR that was heading south on Route 301.
Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 2 flew Blackshear from the scene to Baltimore Shock Trauma for serious head trauma and a broken neck. Blackshear was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Abigail Jaye Nabors, 33 of Waldorf, who was driving a blue 2005 Town & Country received facial injuries, and a toddler, who was riding in the back seat of the van and whose injuries were unknown, were both flown to Children's Hospital in Washington D.C.
A 16-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, Shaquoy Yvette Morris, and a 46-year-old passenger, Yvette Linda Morris, both of King George, Va., did not receive any injuries in the crash and transport was not needed.
According to Maryland State Police, speed does appear to be a contributing factor in this crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
