Intoxicated Male Flags Down Officer for Car Trouble: Drugs Found

Dep. Aundrea Lawton responded to the area of Carson Drive in Huntingtown on January 15 at 4:15 a.m. for a suspicious person call.
After arriving, she was flagged down by a white male standing next to a Ford Explorer. After making contact with him, she detected a strong odor of alcohol. The man indicated that he was having trouble starting his vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that he had suspected drugs inside the vehicle and on his person. Lawton subsequently arrested Steven David Banik, 24 of Sunderland, and charged him with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule IV drug, Ambien, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
