Calvert Man Flees Cops After Stealing from Home Depot

On Nov. 4 at 2:07 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Home Depot at 12050 Jefferson Farm Place in Waldorf for the report of a theft in progress.

When officers arrived, store employees advised two men had just stolen rolls of copper wire and fled in a vehicle. Officers canvassed the area and located the car near Western Parkway. As the officers initiated a traffic stop, the suspects fled to the dead end of Hornbean Court where they jumped out of the car.
 
Officers apprehended the passenger, Justin Travis Hurley, 21 of Port Republic, and charged him with theft. Officers are continuing their investigation to identify the driver. All of the stolen property was recovered.
