On Nov. 2 at 9:22 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Post Office Road and Route 5 in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop. Officers pursued the vehicle and performed a PIT maneuver, disabling the car. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. A computer check revealed the car had been reported stolen in August.

The suspect, Ricardo Delonte Broughton, 35 of Suitland, was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, theft, and numerous traffic violations.

Officer Gross is continuing the investigation.
