On Oct. 24 at 8:24 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers were in the 8100 block of Leonardtown Road in Hughesville, when they observed a drug transaction between a group of males.

The officers approached the subjects – some of whom were inside a car - and found a substance that was packaged like drugs; the drugs later tested negative. In addition, officers located a handgun in the vehicle.

A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun. Officer Gottshall made the arrest
