Families came out for Halloween in the Garden Saturday, Oct. 24, donning their spookiest attire. Annmarie Garden was filled with costumed kiddos trick-or-treating at the decorated booths along the tree-lined paths. More than 5,500 people attended the event, including roughly 3,000 children who enjoyed the mild weather and the bags full of treats. Proceeds benefitted the Holiday Food Basket Program, raising in excess of $3,300. Program Coordinator, Phyllis Lester said, "This is our best year to date."
The Leomonaders, with a stand created from Annmarie Garden's summer camp donated $200 to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and provided a refreshing beverage for the visiting spooks.
A talented crew from Dominion Cove Point LNG created a Hogwart's Castle Replica and dressed as the familiar cast of Harry Potter characters. More than 50 businesses and organizations hosted booths, disbursing sweet treats, information and freebies, helping make Halloween in the Garden a successful family delight.
