Businesses Urged to Participate in 2009 Christmas Caring Program
ST. MARY'S COUNTY - 10/26/2009
|
The Christmas Caring Program is beginning its annual appeal. Due to the current economy, the number of families in need has increased. Christmas Caring, coordinated by the St. Mary’s County Department of Social Services and the County’s Department of Human Services, is seeking businesses to ‘adopt’ a family for the holiday season. Contact the Department of Human Services at (301) 475-4200 ext. 1849 to learn more about the program. Participants will receive a gift request form with information about the family and the children’s ages, sizes, gift preferences, etc. Keep in mind that the gift form is a “wish list”. Parents often request things their children have asked for but they simply cannot afford. However, both parents and children are appreciative of whatever they receive. So don’t feel compelled to follow the list; it is merely a guide. Individuals and groups will be asked to make arrangements to deliver the gifts or to contact the families to arrange pick-ups. Full boxes of holiday gifts will form full hearts for the contributors and recipients. St. Mary’s County proves to be a caring community year-round. A successful Christmas Caring program is especially needed this year for Christmas cheer.
