School Flu Clinics Postponed Due to Inadequate Supply

CALVERT COUNTY - 10/23/2009

Printer friendly

The Calvert County Health Department School Flu Initiative has been postponed effective October 22, due to inadequate vaccine supply. All children may attend our scheduled mass community clinics for their SEASONAL flu vaccinations.

Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade are free of charge. SEASONAL flu vaccinations for all other children are $20. Plans are currently being made for a mass HINI (Swine) flu vaccination clinic on Saturday, October 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Calvert County Fairgrounds in Prince Frederick. This clinic will be for ages 2 through 18 and only the NASAL SPRAY Vaccine will be offered. Children with medical conditions are ineligible for the HINI (Swine) flu NASAL SPRAY vaccine. There is no charge for this vaccine.

An important point to remember is that the SEASONAL FLUMIST NASAL SPRAY and the HINI (SWINE) FLU NASAL SPRAY must be separated by at least 21-28 days, so plan your vaccinations accordingly. The HINI (Swine) flu is the virus currently widespread in Maryland.

Vaccine delivery dates are unknown and plans for vaccine distribution will be made accordingly. For updated information and for the mass clinic schedule go to our website at www.calverthealth.org or call (410) 535-400 ext. 334.
