Grown Man Arrested for Assaulting Teen

ST. INIGOES - 10/23/2009

On October 20, St. Mary's County Dfc. Keith Moritz investigated a reported assault which occurred at a residence in St. Inigoes. 

James Wayne Murphy, 44 of St. Inigoes, punched a 17-year-old male. 

Murphy was arrested, charged with second-degree assault and released to the custody of the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Maybe he deserved it?
If you really want opinions you must provide complete stories but here's my take on you provided. I can't imagine a 44 year old man just walking up to a 17 year hold and hitting him. However, I know a couple of 17 year olds that could use a good shot about the head and shoulders just on GP (general principle). They might even benefit from a good old fashion a$$ whipping. When I was 17 I was going through basic training in Ft Jackson S.C. and had a drill instructor's boot up my a$$ half the time. Know why? Because I needed it! Might be a great place for this 17 year old as well as many other 17 year olds I see running around loose these days. If nothing else I hope it made Mr. Murphy feel better.

But what if
The grown man has been hitting the kid for years. ever since he was a toddler. The mom had no back bone, the kid however, finally had enough of this abuse, and finally got the nerve to call the cops? I wish I had done that , when I was a kid.

Need more facts
Not enough history here to determine what brought this about. caberta could be correct, but that would come out in court.

I would love to be on the jury when he goes to trial. The facts as stated above would not convice me to convict.

Considering the 17 years olds I see out in public nowadays, I would lean towards SuperDave on this one.

Kids Today
These teen in this day and age can be very trying as we all know. I hate to see when these young dudes are walking around with there pants barely hanging on there azz cheeks makes me want to take my belt off and whoop them pants back up on there azz, that is so ignorant. But anyways not enough story here to put in good comments on the teen getting his chest caved in. I know my brother in-law caved his sons chest in one day for trying him.
