The Black Box Theatre in the Indian Head Center for the Arts is joining forces with Art Smart Studio of Bryans Road in presenting the 1st Annual Charles County's Got Talent in the Arts Show and Recycle Art Contest.

Although the event will take place at the Black Box Theatre in Indian Head on Nov. 20 and 21, NOW is the time to register, mark your calendars, and get to work on performances and artwork!

Calling all artists, musicians, actors, poets, dancers, comedians, and creative types of all sorts, ages 5-105! If you live in or around Charles County, Maryland, this is an event you might like to be involved in: The 1st Annual Charles County's Got Talent in the Arts Show and Recycle Art Contest! So save the dates: Nov. 20 from 7 to 9:30 pm, and Nov. 21 from 1-3 p.m.  If you can get a family-friendly act together that lasts 3 minutes or less, the talent show is for you! If you can make some cool piece of art consisting of at least 50% of material otherwise considered trash, then you are a shoe-in for the recycle art contest.

This event will take place in 2 parts:

Friday, Nov. 20 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., is the talent show.  The talent show is exactly that, a show... an opportunity to showcase talent!  It is not a contest. Writers, Dancers, Singers, Actors, Musicians, and Comedians of all ages and abilities are invited to showcase their family-friendly talents in 3 min. or less, to an eager audience, in front of a preview backdrop of some of the art that will be featured in the recycle art contest the next day.

Saturday, Nov. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m., will be the recycle art contest.  Visual Artists, ranging in ages from 5-105, will compete for prizes within their age category. The contest will consist of a team of judges sifting through the creative designs, which must contain 50% or more of items that are reused, recycled or otherwise saved from the landfills to become either an object of beauty or a functional work of art to be cherished for many years to come.

More information and registration forms are available at
http://www.art-smart-studio.com.  Don't wait and risk being too late to participate! Deadline for registrations is November 16th.

Local businesses and organizations wanting to donate prizes are encouraged to contact the Art Smart Studio at (240) 377-8785.
