On Friday, Nov. 13, Calvert Marine Museum will rock all night long with the Texas style blues and power rock sounds of The Fabulous Thunderbirds as they perform in the indoor auditorium.

The intimate 200-seat performance will be a rare opportunity to enjoy hits like “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up.” Tickets for the show are $45 (additional service fees apply) and went on sale at 10 a.m., Oct 1 at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com.

Seats for the show are for general admission and are not assigned. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Beer, wine, soda, and water will be available throughout the evening. 

Originally from Austin, TX the band was formed in the 1970s. Over the years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been influenced by a diversity of musical styles.

Co-founder and original sole member, Kim Wilson says, “We started as a straight blues band, now we incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band and we’re much higher energy than we were before.” In addition to Wilson, vocalist and harmonica player, the current Thunderbirds line-up features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass.

In 1979, the band’s first self-titled album was released that was blues influenced and soon became a cult classic. In subsequent releases, the band incorporated more Cajun, rock’n roll, and soul influences with noted producer Nick Lowe.

The album “T-Bird Rhythm” marked a creative turning point for the group and in 1986, The Fabulous Thunderbirds reached an all time peak with the album, “Tuff Enuff.” The single, as well as “Wrap It Up” and “Look at That,” all went to Top 40.

Having shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana, BB King, and Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have continued to tour and bring great music to fans worldwide.
