At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 a BMW 325ci was heading north on Route 5 in Great Mills in the area near Ronnie Lane. The driver lost control for unknown reasons and crashed.

The BMW crossed the center line, left the roadway, struck a telephone box next to a utility pole. The car was traveling with enough speed that it continued through a field and struck a parked Chevrolet Malibu in a driveway. The crash was such that it forced the Malibu into a truck also parked in the driveway.

Units from Bay District, Lexington Park and Second District responded to the scene. The driver of the BMW was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
