On October 4, at 11:46 p.m., Tpr. G. A. Thompson observed a black Ford F-150 traveling sound bound Point Lookout Road in Callaway exceeding the posted speed limit.  The vehicle turned onto Piney Point Road and then turned into the Callaway Center and drove to the rear of Food Lion where the vehicle was stopped.

Contact was made with the driver, David Wayne Howell, 41 of Leonardtown, as he exited the vehicle.  A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath.  Howell was placed under arrest after completing the field sobriety tests in an unsatisfactory manner.  Howell was found to be in possession of an Oxycodone pill.

Howell was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending his bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
