Man Forges Family Members Check in Attempt to Buy Groceries

On Sept. 30,  at 7:13 p.m, Chester Elwood McMahan, IV, 28, of Lexington Park, was arrested by Tpr. M. J. Pitcher for the reported Forgery and Theft Scheme under $100. 

Tpr. Pitcher responded to the McKay’s Food Store at 46075 Signature Lane in Lexington Park for the reported Theft.  Upon arrival, contact was made with the male employee, 55, who advised the suspect, McMahan was in possession of checks from a family member’s checkbook and attempting to forge the family member’s signature and purchase groceries. 

McMahan was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
