Woman Strikes 5-year-old Daughter Causing Her to Bleed

On Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Crain Highway in White Plains for the report of an assault in progress.
 
Investigation revealed the suspect, a 24-year-old Waldorf woman, struck her 5-year-old daughter in the face, causing her daughter’s nose to bleed. When a witness tried to intervene, the suspect spit on him and punched him.

The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree child abuse and two counts of assault. Her name is not being released to protect the identity of her daughter.

There is....
There is a huge difference between a spanking and assulting a child. You should never punish a child while angry. That's how things get out of hand. Plus, what in the world could a 5 year old possibly have done to deserve such physical punishment as a slap across the face? Too bad anyone can have children without some kind of license or certificate!

She obviously has no patience or maybe she was abused as a child and think that is appropriate behavior for an adult to hit a 5 year old that hard. Crazy in the head for sure. Too spit and assault the dude who got on her case, she is a looser for sure. She needs much behavioral therapy

I have never condoned striking a woman.

But this "person" ... well, if I was on a jury I wouldn't convict the guy if he decked her.

Giving a 5 year girl a bloody nose!!! Then spit on the peacemaker?!?!?

I have 3 children, and I am not going to say I have never spanked my kids but I have NEVER EVER made them bleed or bruised them in any way! It was always on the butt. i feel so sorry for children like this because they are at the mercy of what should be a person who cares for and protects them from harm...not hurt them! People like this don't deserve to have children! If they don't have patience then they shouldn't of had them because children take patience. They are not grown and are just learning...especially at the age of 5!!!!! I do hope they did not arrest her in front of this little girl! Poor little thing!

Spare the rod and spoil the child...
from the Bible but the Bible did not say to slap across the face and cause a nose bleed or any other such abusive punishment! We get owner's manual and detailed instructions for every appliance, large or small, that we purchase but no such book of instructions for children!

like burn your wife..etc...don't bring the bible into this, corporeal punishment for children is wrong in any case.

yes the Bible does say a lot of things, most of which no one does anymore...burn your wife? Sorry but I do not remember reading that one; but then the Bible was edited for King James a long long time ago. I agree that corporeal punishment for children is not acceptable and just yesterday there was s feature on TV that spanking children actually harms their IQ over a period of time. I did not say that I wanted a manual to raise children but that it seems that we get books on everything else, we save them, read them and refer to them when there is a problem but any books on raising children are not saved or read; well, not by a lot of parents, for example the woman in this story.

yes inexperienced parents may learn somethng from a book, so what...hitting children is wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

If it takes a book do it, first you might have to teach the parent to read.
