Mr. Brad Clements, SMCPS chief operating officer has reported that SMCPS engineers have been monitoring the gas leak situation and indicated that the leak has not affected Greenview Knolls Elementary School. School operations are continuing normally at this time.

UPDATE - 1:33 p.m.: After setting up road block barricades, police turned the scene over to State Highway officials. However, because drivers were refusing to obey SHA workers, police have been recalled to the scene to enforce the road blocks once again while repairs are being made to the leaking gas line.

UPDATE - 12:42 p.m.: Authorities are now estimating that Chancellors Run will be closed for at least four more hours. Washington Gas has been called and is on the way to the scene.

TheBAYNET.com is on the scene of a 2 inch gas line leak on Chancellors Run Road near Greenview Knolls Elementary School. Chancellors Run is closed in both directions between Buck Hewitt Road and Military Lane. The gas leak is thought to be from a smaller pipeline from a 6 inch main. Authorities are on the scene. All motorists are asked to stay away from the area.
