St. Mary’s County BCI detectives are investigating a reported burglary and shooting, which occurred on Sept. 8 at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Iverson Drive in California.

Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location for the 911 call. The 26-year-old male resident reported that he was home alone when he encountered the suspect, described as a black male, 5 foot 10 inches to 6 feet tall, in his 30’s, standing on his stairs.

The suspect was holding the victim’s own handgun and a struggle ensued.  The suspect shot the victim in his arm and then fled. The victim was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital and later released.
