Two-Car Collision and Flip in Front of Food Lion Sends Two to PG

At approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 at 37701 Mt. Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall a black Ford Explorer and a red Chevrolet Blazer collided. The impact of the collision forced the Blazer onto its side, trapping a victim inside.
Witnesses on the scene stated that members of the public and passengers called 911 and helped two victims from vehicles prior to emergency units from Hughesville and Mechanicsville arriving on the scene. After propping the flipped vehicle up so that it was stable, rescue units proceeded to cut the windshield and the top of the Blazer off the vehicle in order to rescue the male victim trapped inside.
After about 35 minutes, the victim was freed from the wreckage and he, along with one other victim were transported by ambulance to PG Shock Trauma. Three victims of this crashed signed refusals and were not transported. Authorities are investigating the cause of this accident. No word on the condition of either of the transported victims at this time.
