Eight hours of your time can save you years of frustration!  If you are a parent hoping to enjoy your child’s teenage years, you should put this workshop, Guiding Good Choices, on your calendar.  The Calvert Library Prince Frederick is hosting Calvert Substance Abuse Services on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 am to 4 pm to present this relationship building workshop.  Lunch will be served so please register online at the library website or by calling (410) 535-3079 ext. 26.

Attendees will learn how to improve family communication and relationships.  Tora Wright, Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist will cover such topics as family meetings, setting guidelines in the home, how to discuss serious issues, and building self-esteem.

According to the American Lung Association, every new day sees approximately 3,600 children between 12 and 17 years of age smoke their first cigarette.  An estimated 1,100 of them will become regular smokers.  During the discussion, attendees will be presented with many facts about teen smoking and drug use, as well as teen-suggested strategies parents can use to set firm boundaries without tipping their child over into dangerous rebellion.

Please call (410) 535-0291 for more details.
