The Coast Guard began searching for an unconfirmed person in the water near 20th Street in Ocean City Monday afternoon. Ocean City Beach Patrol called Station Ocean City at 2:27 p.m., stating they had a report of a person in the water, and they requested assistance in the search. A 25-foot rescue boat crew from the station and a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City, N.J. both launched to search for the person in the water. Beach Patrol lifeguards and a Maryland State Police helicopter crew also searched the area. Beach Patrol lifeguards pulled one person out of the water at the beach, but witnesses on the beach reportedly saw what looked like another person submerge and not resurface. "We received a report of an unconfirmed person in the water, and we will search until we get further information," said Senior Chief Petty Officer Brian Avelsgard, command duty officer for the Fifth Coast Guard District.
