Annmarie Garden, in Solomon’s on Sunday August 23, hosted a Pet Friendly day of activities for pets and their owners. Prehistoric cavemen drew pictures of animals on the cave walls so what better exhibit to invite pets to attend than “Wild Things.”

An animal mural lay in wait on the path as the pets, dogs and one brave rabbit, entered by trotting through the non-toxic pet friendly paint leaving foot prints on two large poster boards and the ensuing sidewalk.

The attendees walked the trail through the woods viewing the many beautiful sculptures. At almost every turn people discovered more art works painted on tree stumps or openings in the bark. Dogs sniffed at trees and leaves and followed their noses to the water fountain on the path.

Children in attendance were invited to create a special collar for their pet to take home as a souvenir of this special day. Calvert Animal Welfare League was there to find a ‘furrever’ home for their canines and to promote educational programs for children as well as draw attention to their services and free educational materials for those who need help.

All in all a very beautiful day to walk in the woods and the best part for canine and pet owners was being about to take their trusted companions to such an event, enjoy the outdoors and art at the same time.
