On August 18 at 1:40 a.m., Kelvin Donel Dyson, 41 of Waldorf, was arrested by Cpl. M. W. Laney on an outstanding Fugitive Warrant in Florida, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.

Cpl. Laney was assisting Tpr. Jackson at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Colton Point Road, north of River Springs Road in Avenue when he was contacted by EMS personnel concerning a possible intoxicated driver. Cpl. Laney made contact with Dyson who was standing outside a gray Cadillac DTS waiting for the roadway to open. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his person. A routine NCIC Wanted check and MVA check were performed and Dyson's driving privileges were suspended and revoked. He was advised not to drive. The NCIC wanted check returned and it revealed Dyson had an open warrant through Florida.

Dyson was placed under arrest for the open warrant. He was found to be in possession of a glass CDS smoking device with cocaine. Dyson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review and an extradition hearing for his return to Florida on the open felony warrant.
