At approximately 3:30 a.m. at the residence at 46833 South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park a black Ford SUV left the roadway and crashed all the way into house, smashing the second floor access stairway, trapping the residents inside.

Witnesses report that the person driving the SUV tried to back out of the house and when the vehicle could not leave the scene, the suspect fled on foot. Police are investigating whether or not the car was stolen and are actively seeking the suspect.

The elderly couple was extracted from the home by Bay District VFD Co. 3 which is just across the street from the residence. Firefighters took the home’s occupants out through a second story window onto an exterior ladder.

There were no serious injuries. The Red Cross was called to help the couple. This story will be updated as soon as the authorities provide any additional information.
