Nonprofit organizations and other grant-seekers in Calvert County now have access to a valuable new collection at Calvert Library Prince Frederick which has been designated as a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center in New York City.

As a Cooperating Collection the library has a new print collection of materials on grant-makers and guides to proposal writing, as well as access to two Foundation Center databases. The Foundation Center’s core collection includes The Foundation Directory Online, profiling more than 91,000 U.S. grant-makers, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, print directories, and proposal writing guides. The annual fee for these services has been paid for by the Calvert Library Foundation.

Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grant-seekers, grant-makers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public. Thousands of people visit the Center’s web site each day and are served in its five regional learning centers and its national network of Cooperating Collections.

Cooperating Collections also hold training sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.  A public workshop on locating funding for nonprofits will be offered on Friday, September 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Calvert Library, Prince Frederick.

Introduction to Fundraising will be presented by State Library Resource Center Grants Librarian, Andrea Snyder, and Calvert Library staff.
