At approximately 3:45 pm on Monday, August 17, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was alerted to a house fire in Cavalier Country on Cavalier Ct. in Dunkirk.

Other companies on the original call were North Beach VFD, Anne Arundel Company 9 and Tanker 6 from Huntingtown VFD.  As Chief arrived on the scene, he reported a working house fire.

This alerted Company 42 from Anne Arundel and Company 6 Huntingtown for additional engine companies.
There was speculation that the fire started on the outside deck of the rear porch and went up siding and into attic.  There had to be ventilation done to roof as well as overhaul inside the house on ceiling to make sure fire on outside wall did not spread to other areas of the house.
