Marijuana Found After Driver Attempts to Evade Police

On Aug. 9 at 5:39 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of Smallwood Village in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. The driver did not stop and subsequently put the car in reverse as he bailed out. The vehicle hit the officer’s car causing minor damage. The driver, Deante Mandell Duckett, 24, of Brandywine, was apprehended a short distance away. A computer check revealed Duckett was driving without a license. Officers also recovered a small amount of marijuana inside the car. Duckett was charged with traffic violations and possession of marijuana. Officer M. Smith made the arrest. |
