BCI Arrests Home Invader and Burglar

James Bowles, 50, of Avenue

After an extensive investigation, on August 6, St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigation detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the residence of James E. Bowles, 50, from Avenue.

BCI detectives arrested Bowles and charged him with first degree burglary and second degree assault. The arrest came as a result of BCI’s investigation into a July 18 burglary to an occupied home in Avenue. During that home invasion, the female residing in the home, 85, was assaulted.

Detectives are investigating other burglaries and additional charges are pending review with the State’s Attorneys Office. Bowles was incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.

First off since all of you Seventh District know it all's want to comment on people, well here's one for starter's. Bowles didn't commite any crime to begin with. The police want to point the finger at Bowles because they cant solve the crime themselves so "HEY" let's pin it on Bowles. Real catchy St. Mary's County Sheriff's office, only the finest around right? Yeah please grow some balls and go and do some real criminial investigation and find the person who really did this. All you cops walk around with a badge and a gun and do whatever you want cause you think your GOD or something. Well I have a news flash for you, the real person who hurt that elderly woman is still out there and you jerk offs think you have the right guy and you don't,so do your job and catch the person who really did this!!!

Police will go and arrest someone for no reason. I think you're the crazy one. They did a search on his residence and for them to arrest them they obviously found something that belonged to this elderly lady. Just my thought, sorry if he didn't do it.

mr. bowles isn't as innocent as u think so apparently ur just trying to make him look good. The bowles brothers (when Alan was alive) had a history of stealing and robbing. Until they robbed the wrong person years ago at Chaptico market and alan was shot. So please don't try to make someone dirt bag look innnocent when he's far from it!!!

Hey browneyz68, there was and isn't no evidence of the Bowles brothers breaking any glass in the door of Chaptico Market. That door was busted by the men who were carrying guns that night and shot the Bowles boy in the STATE ROAD. The shooters say Bowles was last seen running down the road after being shot, so how can a man that was shot in the leg run down the road??? The St. Mary's Today stated Bowles was dumped in the marsh, so WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?? Was he dumped in the marsh or was he held somewhere in COLD STORAGE?? Was Chaptico Market interior searched after this innocent? I DONT THINK SO!!! State police searched the marsh several weeks after the shooting and nothing was found, so how does a body show up in Novemeber in the marsh that was searched? A skelton was found with fractured legs and trauma to the skull. So is this St. Mary's finest doing the dirty work or a ghost?? And was anyone brought to trial for shooting a man in the state road? The shooter's relative bragged about shooting Bowles in the leg and the back. And if the police knew that he shot Bowles in the back a second time in the state road, well that's againist the law to do. So tell me how a man can get up from being shot two times and run down the road from the police and hide and not find him in the marsh but find him months later. This was a cover up from the beginning and EVERYONE ANSWERS TO THE MAN UPSTAIRS EVENTUALLY!!!! "MURDER WAS COMMITED THAT NIGHT AT CHAPTICO MARKET"...The person that did this crime will meet there maker and have to answer to him of what he did. Maybe Allen was no saint but he paid for his sins so why dont you just let him be....

Well, let me clue ya'll in! ;0 The Bowles boys (at that time) used to be country thugs. They would sneak into homes while people were sleep. They would wait until people left home to attend funerals or prayers. They would wait until someone left to go to church. Then they would sneak up to and break into your house. The neighborhood was in a panic. The guilty person/s could not be captured. But one night they decided to go big time and rob the Country Market at Chaptico. Well, they got away with it, and got greedy and more stupid, so they went back over and over. The owner decided to take a stand. The Bowles boys were confronted and BAM! All the thefts, burglaries, breaking and entering stopped! A miracle happened...someone put an end to the community being terrorized. And yes, one little Bowles was found dead. The buzzards took care of what was left. You may think this is a cold hearted statement, but it is the truth. At least some innocent person was not injured or killed, just the guilty parties. Maybe the fat Bowles boy has forgotten the demise of his stupid brother, and is back up to his old tricks. Of course the coward piece of caca would pick on a poor old lady. MORE POWER TO THE COMMUNITY VIGILANTLY THAT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM WAY BACK WHEN!! STEP FORWARD AND WE CAN MAKE YOU SHERIFF!! And to the family or stupid Theresa that wants to chime in and take up for the ignorant James Bowles, shut up and move on. We on this web site can't stand the crying, pathetic rantings from stupid family or friends of these scumbags drug across the news pages....Remind us to apologize when they find him not guilty..I won't hold my breath.

First of all, let's get this straight, my last name is NOT Bowles and I do NOT know the BOWLES family. However, EVERY man is innocent until proven guilty-let's not forget that!! Who made ALL of you judge & jury to immediately convict Mr. Bowles when you yourselves do NOT know the whole story. Have you seen the police report, or evidence (IF ANY) that was taken from his residence? There is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story and NO ONE has any right to assume that this man is guilty just because he may have done something he regretted doing in his past. That is a BIG problem with the trashy newspapers today, drudging up the past on someone who has done something wrong and not letting them get on with their lives or in the society. I know of the horrible incident that happened many years in Chaptico, as I am a resident there and I believe that Theresa is absolutely correct in saying "How does a man run when he has been shot in the leg and in the back and then his body can't be found until months later-IN A SWAMP!!" Murder was committed that long long night ago at Chaptico Market. And for you to say make the vigilante Sherrif is absolutely insane. You must be related to the murderer. Chaptico Market was ridiculed many years ago for this and how this man shot someone and got away with it is wrong. Leave the past in the past!!
