Leonardtown is giving away a cool kayak at it's August 7 First Friday event. Blu Haven Piers, LBA and SMC Tourism are sponsors. The evening and the Beach Party on the Square the following day are in celebration of Maryland's 375th.

Leonardtown Commissioner Dan Burris, events coordination Julie Lemmon, and Leonardtown Business Association Chairman, Dan Norris placed the kayak in place atop a lifeguard chair set up in the square ready for some lucky winner of the beautiful Hobie Kayak, valued at  approximately $2,000.

The kayak was donated by Leonardtown Business Association, St. Mary's County Tourism, and BluHaven Piers. The contest is part of an effort to promote the town's First Friday events as well as a way to create awareness about the paddling opportunities at the town's new waterfront park.

Town visitors may go to any participating First Friday businesses every day between now through August 7 to register to win. Registration will continue through the First Friday event, Each participating business has the complete contest rules.

The kayak winner will be drawn at 8:30 p.m. during the August 7 Celebrate 375 First Friday on Leonardtown Square. The winner must be present to win.

The evening will feature live music in the square and activities at the participating shops, galleries and restaurants.
