The Newark Bears came from behind again on July 27, to defeat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 7-5 at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

Southern Maryland’s Liu Rodriguez started the first inning with a homer, his first this season, to put the Blue Crabs on the board.

The Bears came alive in the sixth, batting around to score five runs off of five hits to take and keep the lead. A two RBI double off the bat of Andres Perez plated Charlton Jimerson and Alberto Castillo. In the eighth inning, Carl Everett launched his fourteenth home run of the season to put an insurance run on the board.

Newark’s Mike Hrynio notched the win, his first this season, after striking out four Blue Crabs and allowing only two earned runs.  Keith Foulke recorded his tenth save after pitching a hitless ninth, striking out one.

Newark swept the three game series against Southern Maryland to improve their record to 8-9.
