Official Reconstruction Report for the Dunkirk Fatal Accident

OFFICAL RECONSTRUCTION REPORT FOR THE FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION On July 24, 2009 at approximately 10:47 a.m. members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team, Anne Arundel County Police Department and Maryland State Police responded to the intersection of MD Rt. 4 and Apple Way in Dunkirk for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office cruiser. STORY AS IT TRANSPIRED ON JULY 24 TBN's reporter on the scene has provided more details. The deputy was flown by State Police Helicopter to Baltimore with life threatening injuries. There has been a fatality in the second vehicle involved in the accident. Authorities are still investigating the scene. Units from Dunkirk and Huntingtown responded to the accident. Route 4 northbound is closed from Mt. Harmony Road and all traffic is being diverted. The southbound lanes are open to slow traffic. It is expected that northbound Route 4 will be closed for hours until the investigation is completed.
TBN's person at the scene reports that the deputy has been extracted form his vehicle and was just transported with serious injuries. The extent of the injuries are known at this time. More to come as it is made available.
Witness at the scene report that the second car involved in the accident was fully involved in flame with people inside. TBN is attempting to learn more about this serious accident will update the story as news becomes available.
Preliminary information provided to TheBAYNET.com has Calvert County Sheriff's and emergency first responders at the scene of a serious accident which occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24 on northbound Route 4 at Dunkirk Way in Dunkirk. There are unconfirmed reports that the accident involved a Calvert County Sheriff's vehicle which is believed to be flipped trapping the deputy inside. The second car was fully involved and it is believed that there might be a fatality. There has been no official word from authorities about the status of any victims at the scene.
