Woman Charged with Child Abuse for Smacking 15-Year-Old

LEXINGTON PARK - 7/22/2009

On July 20, Aimee Sharelle Moore, 36 of Lexington Park, was charged with second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault for striking a 15-year-old female, who was in her care and custody, in the face several times causing redness and swelling.

It's not called discipline when you strike someone in the face several times till they swell up and all. That is crossing the line, if she needed it or not.

i dont want to put all of my business out there but ii will tell yhu guys this much . ii was not being disrespectful to her . and ii kno what discipline is . if ah child acts out or cusses or does something innapropriate then they should get disciplined by their parents and/or gaurdians . but being a parent , they should kno when they take it too far . their is a fine line between discipline and abuse .

CAN A MOTHER (IF IT WAS THE MOTHER) NOT DISCIPLINE HER CHILD.IT "WAS" A NORM FOR A PARENT TO SMACK A CHLD FOR TALKING BACK OR USING PROFANITY. YES EVERYONE HAS A FREEDOM OF SPEECH.BUT YOU CANT DISRESPECT YOUR ELDERS.AND I BET THAT WAS THE CASE. OK..BOTTOMS UP...ALL DOCTORS PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK..YOUR UNDER ARREST FOR "SMACKING OUR BUTT'S"

Hmmm
I think part of the problem with the world today is that there is not enough smacking/spanking happening to kids. They grow up not knowing right from wrong.

I will make your comment sound a littlebetter by saying like this..."spare the rod, spoil the child". With out some sort of "spanking " as part of discipline..your child may know right from wrong, but they do not know how concequences "hurt"

there are ways to discipline your kids without getting physical.. military does it all the time.

I know its called disciplne. I just didnt want to be "that guy" jumping to conclusions before all the facts were on the table. I believe in a firm hand!!! If you dont teach your kids to have respect when they are little, things wont change when they become teenagers. Then the problem is alot worse and more times than not, also out of control.

Its called assault.
I just commented on another story where the mother of a 14 yr old boy called the police on him for destroying the home. Someone had commented that they felt that was wrong,well what else is there to do? You cannot beat an out of control teenager, so I suppose it has to go to the legal system.

You people kill me! It is not wrong for a parent to use corporal punishment to correct truly bad behavior. I'm sure most of your parents (like mine) spanked/whipped you and I'm also sure most of you, like me, are no worse for the experience. Physical punishment must be used sparingly and lovingly, not as a release for frustration. But if a child curses at, show insolence towards, or otherwise disrespects an adult, they should reasonably expect to have their a**es whipped. Period-end of story. Perhaps if parents weren't so afraid of their children and took more control, our kids wouldn't be killing each other in the streets in record numbers, engaging in other forms of anti-social behavior, or disrespecting authority figures outside their homes. People, RESPECT BEGINS AT HOME!

NO hitting period. its wrong and should not occur, just because you or whoever was raised that way doesnt make it right. It was wrong then its wrong now. NO HITTING PERIOD!!!!

You don't have to be educated that well to know that you can use words not your hand or fist, children , teenagers, etc do not need to be hit, next you are going say its okay to beat your wife, Society used to think that was okay. It was the norm once, its not now, and neither will be corporeal punishment for children. There is no reason to hit a child.
