A felony arrest at Route 235 and Route 4 snarled concert traffic heading to the Styx/38 Special concert on Tuesday, July 7 at approximately 5:15 p.m. While traffic was inconvenienced briefly, the arrest took a dangerous suspect off the streets and into custody.
At approximately 5:05 p.m., suspect Jason Lawrence Yeatts, 32, of Leonardtown allegedly robbed a female victim at gun point in the parking lot of the CVS at Rue Purchase Road in Lexington Park.
Yeatts allegedly entered the CVS, demanded money threatening the clerk by stating he had a weapon. At that time, Yeatts left the premises without any money. Then he encountered the victim in the parking lot and demanded money. The female complied and Yeatts escaped in a green Ford Explorer.
On Tuesday, 10 minutes after the robbery at the CVS, Yeatts was spotted by Narcotics Detective Labarowski in the area of Rt. 235 approaching Route 4 in a green Ford Explorer. Det. Labarowski followed and observed the vehicle until other deputies arrived where they proceeded to make what is termed a high risk felony vehicle stop and Yeatts was taken into custody without incident.
However, due to a previous and unrelated medical condition and because officers suspected he was under the influence of a controlled and dangerous substance, Yeatts was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
The suspect remains under medical care and authorities hold two warrants for Yeatts at this time.
