The Coast Guard rescued three people from a sinking boat in the Severn River on June 13.

Wayne Hutchins, the owner/operator of a 26-foot Bayliner, called Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders at approximately 10:30 p.m., reporting that his boat was taking on water near the mouth of the Severn River. Watchstanders dispatched a 25-foot response boat crew from Station Annapolis.  A Maryland Natural Resources Police boat crew arrived on scene and were able to slow the leaking.  The Coast Guard boat crew then towed the boat and crew to the Annapolis Harbor.

All three people were wearing their life jackets when rescuers arrived.

The Coast Guard urges all mariners to wear their life jackets at all times while on the water.  In an emergency there may not be enough time to put one on, so wearing one at all times may save your life.
