Burglar Busted While Attempting to Steal Motorcycle

On June 10 at 9:25 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of an attempted burglary that had just occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Brandon Circle in Waldorf. Their investigation revealed the suspect, later identified as Darren Ray Smith, 28 of Waldorf, had attempted to force entry into the house through a back door but fled when the homeowner confronted him. Officers, including a K9 Unit, searched for Smith and apprehended him in woods near Post Office Road. Smith was charged with first-degree burglary and possessing a concealed deadly weapon. |
